Dave Glasser live, tonight, in NYC!

Help us welcome Alto Saxophonist Dave Glasser and his Quintet to "Jazz Tuesdays" in the John Birks Gillespie Auditorium (53 East 11th Street between University Place & Broadway) tonight, September 9. The Quintet features Dave Glasser on saxophone, Yonatan Voltzok (trombone), Yotam Silberstein (guitar), David Robaire (bass), and Dan Aran (drums). There will be two shows at 8:00 and 9:30 p.m.

Dave Glasser started his professional career in 1988 with the Iliinios Jacquet Big Band. From 1989 – 1991 he worked with the Count Basie orchestra and from 1991 – 1995 again with Jacquet. From 1995 – 2006 he was a member of the Clark Terry Quintet. Over the past two decades he has worked along side Sarah Vaughn, Billy Eckstine, Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, Jimmy Heath, Slide Hampton, Joe Williams, Nancy Wilson, Stanley Turrentine, George Benson, Monty Alexander and with the Bob Mintzer Big Band.

His current quintet is collaboration with exciting young talent. Their goal is to move the music forward with original compositions and an open approach while remaining connected to the unique feeling and history of jazz. Dave Glasser appears on 25 CD’s including 4 as a leader, 5 with Clark Terry, 3 with the Count Basie Orchestra, and 2 with Earl May. He is currently active as a band leader and guest artist in the US and abroad.

Mr. Glasser has been a part time faculty member at the New School Jazz program since 1996 teaching saxophone, Charlie Parker Ensemble, Ear Training, and Bebop Harmony. He was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and the Arts. He has a BM in Classical Saxophone and a MM in Jazz Performance from the Eastman School of Music. He also studied extensively with Lee Konitz and Barry Harris.
